Fall evenings are the perfect excuse to get out of the house, throw on a sweatshirt and enjoy something seasonal. Pumpkins Aglow at Franklin Park Conservatory is a fun way to spend a fall evening in Columbus with glowing pumpkin displays, entertainment, activities, and plenty of photo opportunities.

What is Pumpkins Aglow?

Pumpkins Aglow is a seasonal evening event featuring illuminated pumpkin displays and colorful lights throughout the gardens. You’ll find themed scenes featuring pirates, mermaids and skeletons, along with singing pumpkins (my personal favorite!), a light up dance floor, bubbles and more.

Admission includes access to both indoor and outdoor areas, so give yourself time to explore. I recommend grabbing a map when you arrive to help you find all the displays and activities.

Enjoy The Fall Gardens

The Conservatory’s Harvest Blooms are on display through November 1, 2026 featuring pumpkins, mums, ornamental cabbages and two pumpkin houses fill the garden with seasonal color.

Arrive before dark for photo oops while there is still daylight, then continue exploring as the evening gets darker.

Make Time for Activities and Entertainment

Beyond the displays, families can make their way through a straw bale maze, watch flame twirlers and a swinging witch, play games inside the circus tent, and enjoy hands-on activities.

Kids can also make sand art or stuff their own plushies for an additional cost.

When you’re ready for a break, there are food trucks and drinks for both kids and adults. I highly recommend the hot dog food truck. It was so good and unique!

Explore Inside, Too

Save part of your visit for the indoor Conservatory. While some areas are currently closed for renovations and the butterfly exhibit is gone for now, you can still check out other things inside.

Check out the colorful Chihuly glass collection and the Titan Arum, also known as the Corpse Flower.

It’s a nice way to take a break from the chilly evening weather and warm up.

Tips for Planning Your Visit

  • Dress in layers. Ohio weather changes often so dress warm and remove layers if needed.
  • Reserve tickets ahead of time. The Conservatory strongly recommends this as tickets can sell out.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll do lots of walking and standing as you’ll explore.
  • Charge your phone. You’ll want it ready for photos.
  • Leave room to linger. Allow plenty of time to enjoy all the activities and displays.
